Bad kissingen golf club: an all-pink tournament against breast cancer

One of originally more than 100 pink ribbon ladies’ days has taken place at the bad kissingen golf club. It is a nationwide campaign that focuses on breast cancer and the chances of early detection of the disease, according to a press release from pink ribbon germany. Since the 1990s, the "pink ribbon" has been used to promote the fight against breast cancer used worldwide as a symbol for commitment against breast cancer.

In compliance with the safety conditions related to the corona pandemic, the golf course turned pink, as the participants of the pink ribbon ladies day entered the day of play dressed in pink or with pink accessories. Ursula lingstadt-dachrodt, ladies captain of the golf clus, said that 28 players had taken part in the tournament.

A project of the heart

Katharina muller of pink ribbon germany says: "this year many tournaments have already been cancelled due to the pandemic. This hits our organization very hard. The pink ribbon germany women’s day series has long become a heartfelt project. We get so much input and encouragement from our golf ladies every year that we are just thankful. We are happy that the decreasing number of infections allows us to relax the golf courses and to hold ladies’ days for our good cause under safe conditions. The reach we are achieving with this engagement in germany is invaluable to us and we are pleased to be able to reach women and their communities in this positive way."

In addition to the attention generated by the pink-ribbon-deutschland-damentag-series, the women raise funds for donations. The proceeds make the pink kids project possible – an initiative of pink ribbon germany in which young people whose mothers have or have had breast cancer help other young people in the same situation. Those who would also like to donate to projects of the pink ribbon germany campaign can do so on the campaign’s website.
